New accessory

If you have trouble finding your car in those crowded parking lots I've found the perfect accessory. It will make finding your car a snap....as long as everyone else doesn't rush out to get them. It can be our little secret. Here's a pic for you:

So what do you think? It's going to be the next big thing, right?

Quick project

I read a post where someone was talking about this hat and I was curious. Then I happened to be in Hobby Lobby (the only craft related store anywhere near me) and found some wool felting yarn on clearance for about $2.50. I immediately thought of this hat and decided to give it a try. Just let me say that it worked up sooooo quickly! I love that. I made it in the adult size and then threw it in the washer and dryer to tighten it all up so that if would fit the girls. Kirsten has claimed it and is in love with it.

She made me wash this shirt so she could wear it again with this hat to school today. :0)

I think I should have made it just a smidge longer, but she loves it like it is.

And, go check out this giveaway. Really cute stuff.

It's my turn...

Okay, Tanja is at it again. She participated in a little something that her friend was doing. I thought it was neat and said I would participate too. The way it works is that she gave me a letter and now I list my favorite 10 things that begin with that letter.

My letter

1. Dax - I do love this man!!

2. Daughters - They bring so much light to my life. (I do love my son too, but I couldn't think of a way to use 'd' for him. lol)

3. Dark Chocolate - mmmmm!

4. Donuts - 'nuff said.

5. Day dreaming - It's nice to just picture all the best for a little while every now and then.

6. Diamonds - They are a girl's best friend after all.

7. Dogs - Sometimes I want to kill them, but I do like them more often than not. lol

8. Down Comforter - After we went on the cruise to Alaska last year we contacted the company that made the comforter, pillows, etc. for the cruise because they were so cozy. We were able to get them all custom made for our bed and I love, love, love them.

9. Dunkin' Donuts - I wish we had one close to us. But, I guess it's probably best that I can only go get donuts every now and then. :0)

10. DVR - I am so spoiled by being able to rewind the tv when the kids talk and I miss something. How did I ever live without that ability? Now if they could just do that for the radio. lol

There are my 10. Does anyone else want to play along? Let me know and I'll pick a letter.

Monday Morning Check In

This week was much better. I went to the store and bought better things to have here at the office for when I get the munchies. It makes a huge difference because we always have a big basket with chocolates for the clients and when there's nothing else around I hit the candy. I bought popcorn, yogurt, things like that. It's really helped me a lot. So for the week overall I lost 1 pound. I know that's nothing amazing, but I'm pleased. (I'm sure it could have been more if I had stayed away from the Crown & Coke on Saturday night. *giggle*)

I made this recipe to keep at the office too. It turned out pretty good. I wasn't too sure about it but thought I would give it a try. I'm sure I'll make it again.

1 small box SF strawberry jello
1 lb lite small curd cottage cheese
1 can crushed pineapple (1 lb. 4 oz.) with no sugar added (drained)
1 small container SF cool whip

I mixed the jellow and the cottage chese together first. Then added the pineapple and stirred and finally added the cool whip and stirred it again until well mixed. Then I put it in the fridge for a couple of hours to set up.

I found the recipe online but changed it up a little to suit my tastes. lol I also found another one that I will try after my busy season at the office ends and I have more time at home. It looks really good and if it is I'll be sure to post it here.

Naughty

Is it just me or does your mind head straight to the gutter when you see this ad?

I can't help it. Every time I see that billboard I think nasty thoughts. lol Although, I don't think it would make very good pillow talk.

Tag I'm it

I got tagged by Tanja so I'll see if I can do this. lol

The Rules:
1. Go to your documents/pictures.
2. Go to your 6th file.
3. Go to your 6th picture.
4. Blog about it.
5. Tag 6 people to do the same.
6. So here we go... here is my 6th pic in my 6th file.

Two summers ago Dax & I went on an Alaskan cruise (while the kids went to stay with Grandma). At the front of the ship they had a large room with small tables and chairs and larger lounge chairs built for two. At night it was a bar, but during most of the day it was a nice quiet place to hang out. The room was all windows on three sides. This picture was taken looking out of some of those windows while laying back in one of the lounge chairs. Aaahhh, so relaxing.

Okay, I don't know who to tag so if you'd like to do this consider yourself tagged. I'd love to see what your story is so let me know if you play along. :0)

Block of the Month

I decided to give a try to the block of the month at
Gail Pan Designs. I haven't sewn the red fabric around the square yet, but I hope to have the chance before the month is over. lol

Here it is:

It was a quick stitch and that's great for a little instant gratification. :0) I'm looking forward to the next block. I kinda' like not knowing what's coming next, ya know?

A Quickie

I stitched this little heart for someone as a surprise. (I'm trying to buy her forgiveness for not getting the Christmas card in the mail. --- No, I'm not above bribery if it helps. lol)

I put it in the mail yesterday. I hope she likes it.

I just stitched the heart on some tea stained fabric with purple thread (she loves purple). I couldn't decide how to finish it off. I fretted about it for a week at least. Then I decided to sew it onto a piece of cardstock. Then on the back I put a phrase about love. I figured that would be good to have out for Valentine's Day. I took some purple wire and ran through some little holes that I made and twisted the wire around to hold it all in place. It was really quick and easy and I'm pleased with how it turned out. Hmmm.....I may have to keep that in mind for making other similar things.

Monday Morning Diet Challenge Check In

I haven't really been good this week at all. This going home at 11:00 at night and grabbing something in a drive thru to eat is not good for a diet at all. Neither is being too darn tired to exercise. I'm trying to eat right, but just don't have the time to do the prep work either. Since I have to have all of this work done by the end of the month I at least know that soon I can do all the extra stuff that needs to be done to make this work.

With that said, my results for the week were.......that I am the same. Didn't gain, didn't lose. I guess that's better than gaining.

And, I hate that I'm doing this but here's a picture.

GAAH!!! I hope you're happy Sharon!! LOL Those jeans were loose at this same time last year. And that extra chin wasn't there either!! I had to take the pic myself in the mirror because everybody else was asleep when I got home. (I did take the picture last Monday, I just didn't remember my camera until late in the week so I waited until now to post it.)

Too Busy

It's been so busy at the office that I haven't had time to craft on much of anything. That tends to make my life pretty boring and the same for this blog. lol This morning I ran into the girls bathroom real quick like and took this picture.

Their bathroom is painted pink and because of this little goodie it's now got lots of butterflies in it too. This was a shirt that they had outgrown. The bottoms of the white sleeves were too stained to be able to give it away but it was so cute I hated for it to be wasted. I went to the craft store and bought the pieces for the frames used to stretch canvas, cut the shirt up and made this wall hanging. I thought it turned out really well (if I do say so myself, lol) I like it enough that I've got another shirt that I'm going to do the same thing with for Wyatt's room...one of these days. ;0)

Monday Morning Challeng Check In

Well, it's time to update on my diet challenge progress. I did okay last week. I only managed to work out once. I did okay on my eating but not great. I did try to cut back on how much I was eating but still it hasn't been enough of the healthier foods that it should be. This month I practically live at the office and I just don't have it left in me to do the needed prep work or to exercise by the time I get home. I only barely manage to drag myself out of bed in the mornings to get the kids dressed and ready much less fit in exercising too. lol But I'm not giving up...I have good intentions every single day....but then again, you know what they say about good intentions, the road to hell is paved with them. lol All that aside, I did manage to lose .6 pounds this week. The way I calculate my weight loss is that I weigh every day and then I average the week. That helps me to account for the ups and downs that happen every day. I also weigh close to the same time everyday (always before I eat anything LOL). Also, I was going to do my before photo and totally forgot. I remembered on the way into the office today while I was thinking that I needed to be sure and post today. Oops!

I did manage to put dinner in the crockpot before I left this morning. I won't get home to eat with the rest of the family, but at least they'll get to eat something that's good for them. :0) It's a chicken taco stew. It's quick to get everything in the crockpot and tastes good too. Here's the recipe:

1 small onion chopped
2 cans rotel chopped tomatoes w/ green chili (I use can rotel and one can plain so it doesnt get too spicy for the kids)
1 can kidney beans
1 can black beans
1 can corn (drained)
1 can tomato sauce
1 pkg. taco seasoning
2 boneless chicken breasts

Put everything in the crockpot (except the chicken breasts) and stir it up. Lay the chicken breasts on top and let it cook on low all day. Before serving take the chicken out and shred then stir it back in. Serve with a spoonful of sour cream and tortilla stips if you like. A little cheese sprinkled on top it good too.

Anyway, I hope everyone else is able to get into the swing and doing well with their diets. Have a great week.

Pay It Forward

I have agreed to participate in Calamity Jane's Pay It Forward. what this means is that I need 3 volunteers to pay forward to. And if you volunteer to receive something from me you must also agree to pay it forward to three people yourself. There are not requirements on what you must pay forward other than it must be something hand made. I can't say when I'll send you gifts, but I promise that it will be sometime in the next three months. So what do ya' say? Do you want some goodies in the mail? I just need three people to leave a comment and get the ball rolling.

Pink Christmas

I can't believe that I forgot to post a picture of my Pink Christmas goodies. I love jewelry and got these three bracelets and a necklace with matching earrings. All have already been worn. :0) There was also a wonderful plaque that came with a great easel. And a peppermint candle, which has also already been used.

It was a great experience and I can't wait to do it again next year. If you've never participated before you should really consider doing it. You can click on the link in my sidebar and see some of the gifts that were sent out.

On another note, yesterday I was trying to delete an inactive link from my favorites list and somehow managed to delete my whole craft link folder. GAAH!!!! I'll bet there were 100 links in there and now they're all gone. I'm just sick about it. So I guess now I need to spend hours searching the internet to rebuild my list. Wonder if my clients would mind getting all of there year end stuff a little late. lol

Monday happenings

I hope everyone gets their week off to a great start. Over the weekend I signed up for a great swap over at Creative Kismet for the 'birds of change'. I'm excited about it and have come up with exactly what I want to make only to change my mind about ten times already. lol If you want to participate head on over but hurry, because sign ups end on Jan. 9th. Just head over to )Creative Kismet to find out all about it.

I've also told Sharon that I would participate with her in a weight loss effort. Monday is our check in day so here I am. :0) My goal is to lose 15 pounds. I haven't set a time frame, but I guess I would like to have it gone by the start of summer. I started today with eating in a more healthy manner than I have been (read: I didn't have cookies for breakfast). I need to squeeze exercise into my daily (or every other day if I'm honest) activities so that's another goal there. Okay, it's out there now so I have to actually make the effort. :0)

Something to say...

I've seen this car a couple of times around town and it just makes me think that they have something to say!! *giggle*

I'm just glad they've found an outlet since I guess nobody else is listening. How upset would Dax be if I did that to one of our cars? Don't even want to think about it. lol
