It's that time of year....

I've been wanting to make something for Dax but didn't know what.

One night when I was looking around at other people's blogs I saw the perfect thing.

It took a little bit of digging to find the pattern, but I'm determined that way. lol

Anyway, it's part of a monthly kind of thing. It's from Raise the Roof Designs . The whole pattern is called Crabby All Year. Love the name.

Anyway, I only wanted the one month.

I had to make some adjustments to their pattern to suit what I wanted it for. I gave it to him in his Valentine's Day bag of goodies. He at least appreciates the work that goes into these things.

I need to re-frame it because I was in a hurry and it's a little loose. :0)

I ordered another pattern from Raise the Roof  Designs too. I used to cross-stitch all the time and then when the kids were born I just kind of quit. (hmmm....wonder why? lol)

Anyway, I really enjoyed doing it again and I'm looking forward to working on the other one (actually it's 'others' because I went a little crazy and bought several patterns....remember, I'm a determined internet, pattern hunter and victor. lol)

Toy Drop

This is only the second item I've made for the Toy Society, but I'm trying to do better.

I made a bird with Valentine's fabric so I wanted to be sure to drop it before Valentine's Day.

I actually made the drop on Friday (sounds kind of covert op, doesn't it?)

The bulk of his body is made with a black/pink/white print. and his belly is pink with white polka dots.

See, his back says LOVE (and I even did that on purpose. LOL)

I've actually gotten a few things finished lately but I keep forgetting to take pictures.

I'll blame the forgetfulness on the kids. That works, right?

Valentine's for school

The kids made these last night to hand out in their classes.

I would like to take credit for this idea but I got it from Erin

Aren't they hysterical?

I just love them!!

Before and After

I was given this piece of fleece several months ago. I think it was supposed to be a blanket but it wasn't even big enough to be a lap blanket.

Anyway, I liked the print and decided I needed to use it for something else. One day I was in Target and saw these pillow inserts and it came to me what to do with the fleece.

I cut the fleece in half so I could make two pillows. I used a buttonhole stitch around the edges and around the buttonholes (imagine that!)  I made the fleece like a big buttoned envelope so that I can slip it off and wash it at any time.

It was really quick to make and the fleece is really soft so it makes it great to snuggle up with to watch t.v. When I bought the pillows at Target they were less than $5.00 each. That's less than I usually can find the pillow forms for around here. lol

In other news I've been working on knitting a sweater for quite some time now. I finally got all the pieces stitched together and tried it on. Gaah!! It was awful! It was supposed to be long sleeved, but the sleeves only came to my elbows and they were tight as all get out. For just a flash I actually contemplated trying to save it. Then I looked at the pile of things I already have waiting to be done/finished I just put it in the trash. Oh well, better luck next time I guess.

Who knew?

Wow! Dax took this picture today for our project 365 blog. It's one corner in our living area off the kitchen (don't know exactly what to call it).

Anyway, after seeing the picture I couldn't believe how nice it made the area look.

(We have a pretty rustic kind of decor, this is probably the most country of our rooms, but hey, I'm a country girl at heart. Oh, and we live in the country too. lol)

Maybe it's because you can't see all the mess that's everywhere?

I'll just keep looking at this picture and pretending my whole house is this clean.

Oh, and can you believe I have two poinsettias still alive? Actually, there are three still living, but only two in that picture. :0)
