Another block done...

I finally sat down and finished the 3rd block from the Christmas Wish BOM. I'm loving these. The stitching is quick and simple. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Monday Morning Check In

I think I'm about the same this week. I say 'I think' because my scale is all wonky. The weights are all over the place. I'm thinking it needs new batteries. Anyway, I did pretty good on eating. Nothing too over the top. And I even got a little exercise in....but only a little. lol I'm feeling like this week will be a good week too. I'll be finished with getting our old office cleaned and the move totally done with so that will be a big load of stress off my back. For this week, since the office thing is getting taken care of, I'm hoping to get more exercise in. I need to make that a regular thing for sure.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Thrift shop find

About a month ago (maybe more) I found this really neat piece of fabric in a thrift shop. I had no idea what I would do with it (as usual) but I liked it none the less. It had this really neat fringie kind of thing going on on one end.

It was all folded up and taped all the way around so I couldn't open it up and look at the whole piece. I just figured for $3 I would take my chances. :0)

Well, when I got home with it and opened it up all hidden away in the folds was some naked people eating grapes (or some such scene). What the heck was I going to do with that?! lol After looking at the fabric and thinking on it for awhile I decided to make a wrap skirt. Fortunately the panel was finished on both edges and was just right for wrapping around. I measured to make sure I could get a skirt out of it that was long enough to make me happy without having the nudies across my butt (that's where they would have been.) So I cut it where I thought it would work best and then cut two strips all the way across. I sewed the strips together and used then on the top of the skirt and as the tie. I just put a button hole on one side so the tie can slip through and wrap around.

Obviously I used the fringe for the bottom of the skirt, and with the finished sides I was able to get this with minimal effort. And hey, I've still got the naked people in case I come up with something to use them for. lol Anyway, I'm happy with how it turned out and can't wait to wear it. Wonder if I have a top to go with it?

More Refashions

What do you get from a too small dress and a plain black t-shirt?

You get two new shirts. lol Okay, probably not really the answer you were expecting but what can I say? :0)

I cut the neck a little bigger on the dress, cut off about the bottom half, and cut out the sleeves and back. Then I did a little shirring-you know, with the elastic thread in the bobbin (such a wonderful technique to learn)-at the back of the neck and along the back of the shirt just to pull in a little of the slack. The girls claim to love it. :0)

For the black t-shirt I just gathered part of the bottom of the dress and sewed it to the bottom of the t-shirt. I did cut off the hem of the t-shirt first. Then I used some of the left-over dress material from the shirt and reverse appliqued three cat head shapes down the left side of the shirt. The cat heads are all shaped a little differently (not on purpose mind you) but I still think it turned out okay. :0)

Monday Morning Check In

Wow! Monday again already. I have to say that this time I'm actually excited to check in. I'm down a pound this week. WooHoo!! I guess I didn't do too bad with the kids gone on spring break. We actually only went out to dinner one night instead of every night all week like we usually do. lol I hope that I can keep this momentum going through this week too. Good luck to everyone else this week too. :0)

Now for my recipe. It's one that I started out with a published muffin recipe and have adapted it to make it healthier and the kids will still eat them so it must not be too bad. lol

Banana Blueberry Muffins

1 1/3 c. flour
3/4 c. rolled oats
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. agave nectar
1 egg beaten
1/2 c. milk
3/4 c. mashed banana
1/4 c. canola oil
3/4 c. fresh or frozen blueberries

Grease 12 muffin cups or line with paper baking cups.

In a medium bowl combine flour, oats, baking powder and salt. Make a well in the center and set aside.

In another mixing bowl combine agave, egg, milk, banana, and oil. Add all at once to the dry mixture. Stir just until moistened. Then gently stir in blueberries.

Spoon mixture into muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.

Bake in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes or until golden. Cool in cups for about 5 minutes.

Funny

I just love this cartoon. I've got it pinned on the bulletin board in my studio. (I've decided to call it that because it sounds so much better than 'the room filled to overflowing with all of my crafting crap' don't you think?)

(Sorry it's blurry)

Hope this made you giggle.

Too cute

I haven't had much time for crafting. The kids are gone for spring break (which would seem like the perfect time to craft my little heart out....but noooo) and that means we work long hours at the office. It's tax time after all!! Anyway, I was fooling around online and saw these cute fabrics

(They're from here. Aren't they funny? They've got a ton of stuff so if you're looking for something a little different maybe go check them out. :0)

Monday Morning Check In

Wow!! It seems like this is coming around more quickly than a week. lol

I had a pretty good week this week. I'm down about .5 pounds. I know that's not much but at least I'm moving again and in the right direction. Woohoo!!

The kids are with their grandparents this week for spring break. (I didn't tell them before they left but their closets will be much less crowded by the time they get back. *giggle*) Anyway, Dax & I usually go out to eat a lot while they're gone so I'm going to have to work at not doing that this time. Try to keep the weight getting lost instead of packing it on. :0)

Hope everybody has a great week and has losses to report.

Re-fashion

I saw this picture a long time ago and cut it out to make someday.

So I already had this shirt and bought some fabric I thought would work well with it.

Since I only had a picture to go by I kind of made it up as I went along. The picture shows the shirts as jackets with big bow in the front but I knew I would wear it more if I made it a shirt instead so I put buttons in and left out the bow. Here are the results.

I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. Who knows, I may even give it another shot. :0)

Monday Morning Check In

Ugh!! No change here. I hate that! I think maybe I'm not eating enough to keep my metabolism going. I need to concentrate on eating smaller portions more often. I think that might get things going again. Now that we've gotten most everything moved into the new office I may be able to muster the energy to start exercising again....maybe. lol

Oh, and I forgot my soup recipe. I even bought the stuff to make it sometime this week. lol I'll try to remember to post it when I get home tonight.

Have a good week losing everyone. :0)

Update:

I posted the soup recipe before
here. LOL

Goodies in the Mail!!

I just love, love, love getting goodies in the mail! Don't you?

I was the lucky winner of this fabulous fabric during the Great International Stash Busting Giveaway from AJ's Antics.

Isn't it great?! I can't wait to make something with it. Wonder what it will be???

Monday Morning Check In

I can't complain. I got back down to where I was two weeks ago. Finally gotten ridge of the excess water (woohoo)so that's a plus. Worked like a dog this week trying to get the better part of the office moved. It would have been great for weight loss but it also made me eat like crazy!! lol

Hope everyone else has had a great week last week and an even better on in the coming week!
