Actually, I started making my own deodorant about a year ago.
It's just soooo easy and I really like it.
Here's what I use.
I use pretty much equal parts of baking soda and corn starch.
I mix those together and then I add in coconut oil. I like for my deodorant to be kind of soft and creamy so I use enough coconut oil to get that consistency. The more you use the softer it will be and the less coconut oil you use the harder it will be.
I also add in several drops of sweet orange essential oil to give it a nice smell.
Here it is all stirred up and in a tiny little mason jar.
(Sorry for the yellow tint to the pictures. No matter how many I took, they all looked like this.)
I use a make up sponge to put this on with.
When I first started using it, I kept getting these knots under my arm and thought I must be allergic to something in it. Then it occurred to me that it was my sweat glands that were just trying to learn how to work again after all of the years of being repressed by the anit-perspirent.
And honestly, since my body has now adjusted to it, I don't sweat that much anymore.....except of course when we're working out.
If you give it a try, let me know what you think. And you can use a different essential oil if you like. I've tried other recipes and I really like this one the best.

A Little Stitching
Last year I agreed to participate in a crafts pay-it-forward. (I know....I'm a little late.)
Most of my problem was deciding on what to do for the people that signed up for me to send a craft to. I did actually manage to get one of them out last year. Anyway, this one goes to my cousin. She recently got married, and moved to another part of the state where she lives. She's now in a smaller house along the coast so I really wanted to make something that could be hung up and was really simple. I also wanted to honor her recent marriage.
So here's what I decided on.
It's VERY simple, but I like the idea of the two of them being joined together into one heart.
I'm putting it in the mail to her today.
I hope she likes it!

Fruit plates for Breakfast
This morning I made fruit plates for breakfast.
It's simply kiwi, banana, and cutie orange slices.
Quick, easy, and adorable. Some of my favorite things.
I don't know who to credit with the idea, but you can guess where I saw it. That's right, pinterest.

Easter goodness
Sorry it's been so long....AGAIN!!
Today is the final day for tax filing or extensions to be filed so maybe I can get back to 'normal' after that.
*fingers crossed*
All three of my girls are really into doing their nails right now. They're always trying something new.
Kirsten did these bunnies on her nails and I just thought they were adorable!!
She painted one of my thumbs like that, but I managed to smear the whole face before it got dry.
Hmmm. Must be why I don't usually paint my fingernails. lol
This year my kids still wanted to dye eggs. Since I haft to boil so many (usually at least 4 dozen) I decided to try something new that I had seen online somewhere (probably from Pinterest. LOL) It usually takes several pots to get all of the eggs boiled but this year I BAKED them.
Yes I did!!
It was sooooooo easy!!
I put a cookie sheet on the bottom rack just in case there were any breaks and then just lined the middle rack with my eggs. That's all four dozen at once!!
Preheat the oven to 325F. Then load the middle rack with your eggs. Bake for 30 minutes.
When they are done, carefully move them into ice water to stop the cooking. I had to fill my sink with water and ice to accommodate all those eggs.
That's it.
They turned out great! I was a little concerned at first because there were brown spots on the eggs when I took them out of the stove. But, when I put them in the cold water, the spots disappeared.
Try it and let me know what you think.

Saw it on pinterest
I think that could be the title for a whole lot of projects. Both for me and many other people.
I made this 'sunflower' cake for Easter dinner tomorrow.
I thought it turned out pretty cute.
And thank goodness I used the 8 inch cake pans so that I didn't need that extra package of peeps that I bought just to make sure I had enough......because I already ate them.

Front door
I put something new on my front door.
The flowers are hanging on the door inside and umbrella.
I would have preferred an umbrella that wasn't splatter painted, but sometimes you just have to work with what you've got.
And since I never got around to (I know, I know) making that Easter wreath, this will have to do for greeting our guests.
Happy Easter!!!

Getting There
Sorry I've been absent again.
It's almost 'tax day' so that makes things crazier than crazy at the office. And of course the kids have activities that seem to be non-stop. By the time I get home in the evening I'm just too tired to do anything. Know what I mean?
Then, on top of that, I got in the middle of two of my cats getting ready to fight. They're both fine. Not a single scratch on either one. But me. My cat bit and scratched the tar out me. She bit my thumb up really good. It was swollen to twice it's size and already getting infected by the next morning so I had to go get a tetanus shot and antibiotics. It's been a week now and I still have a huge knot where they gave me the tetanus shot. It's red and swollen there too. What the heck?! But my thumb is better. LOL
Anyway, I've finally been able to get back to crafting a little and should have goodies to show soon.
